Larry Past plays melodic, vocal oriented folk/rock/Americana music featuring select covers and originals from The Calling CD and his LP3 EP. The heart of his music is the folk rock scene of the 60’s including The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Paul Simon and from more modern bands like The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie and Trampled by Turtles. ------- Greg’s new record, Surviving the Echoes, due out this fall, expertly balances dark themes of war and depression with a promise of hard-scrabble grace in the face of cynicism. His warm tenor singing voice complements the clear notes of his guitar playing, which is at once smooth and complex, and lends itself well to the subject matter. His music feels at times like a spiritual handbook, at times like a love note through the ages, and is embedded with a dark hope. The lyrics suggest that, once our eyes adjust, glints of light might be enough to guide us through.
